  • 2 pounds beef sirloin tips
  • 1 large (chopped) yellow onion
  • 3 cloves (minced) garlic

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon (to taste) salt
  • 1 teaspoon (to taste) black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon (for garnish) dried parsley

Directions

Step 1

Season the beef sirloin tips with salt and black pepper on all sides.

Step 2

Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sirloin tips in batches and sear until browned on all sides. Transfer the browned meat to the crock pot.

In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute. Transfer the onions and garlic to the crock pot.
