Directions

Step 1

In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or pork until fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles. Drain any excess fat and transfer cooked meat to the crock pot.

Place the shredded cabbage, diced onions, sliced carrots, and diced potatoes into the crock pot on top of the meat.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic, beef broth, tomato paste, and crushed tomatoes to the crock pot. Stir to combine everything evenly.

Sprinkle in the white vinegar, granulated sugar, bay leaves, salt, and black pepper. Stir gently to mix.

Step 5

Cover the crock pot with its lid and set it to cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours. Stir occasionally, if possible, to ensure even cooking.

Step 6

About 15 minutes before the soup is done, stir in the chopped fresh dill. Adjust salt and pepper to taste if necessary.

Step 7

Once the soup is ready, remove the bay leaves before serving.

Step 8

Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish with additional fresh dill. Serve hot with a dollop of sour cream on top, if desired, alongside crusty bread for dipping.
