Ingredients

  • 8 slices Raisin bread
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 4 Eggs
  • 0.75 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 0 Optional: chopped nuts or raisins for topping

Directions

Step 1

Butter the inside of a crock pot with 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter to prevent sticking.

Step 2

Cut the raisin bread slices into small cubes, about 1-inch in size, and layer them evenly inside the crock pot.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg until smooth and fully combined.

Step 4

Pour the custard mixture over the cubed raisin bread in the crock pot, making sure all the bread pieces are soaked evenly.

Step 5

Press the bread gently with the back of a spoon to submerge it in the custard mixture. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the liquid.

Step 6

Cover the crock pot with the lid and set it to 'Low' heat. Cook for 2.5 to 3 hours or until the custard is set and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 7

Once the bread pudding is done, turn off the crock pot and let it cool slightly, about 10-15 minutes, before serving.

Step 8

Serve warm with optional toppings such as powdered sugar, whipped cream, maple syrup, or additional raisins or nuts for garnish.
