Ingredients

  • 6 pieces Apples (medium-sized, peeled, cored, and sliced)
  • 0.5 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoons Ground nutmeg
  • 0.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cups Old-fashioned oats
  • 0.5 cups Light brown sugar
  • 1 stick Unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
  • 1 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 tablespoons Lemon juice

Directions

Step 1

Grease the inside of your crock pot with butter or non-stick cooking spray to prevent the apple crisp from sticking.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and lemon juice until evenly coated. Transfer the apples to the greased crock pot.

Step 3

In another bowl, prepare the oatmeal topping by combining the flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt. Add the cold, cubed butter to the mixture and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

Sprinkle the oatmeal topping evenly over the apples in the crock pot.

Step 5

Cover the crock pot with a clean kitchen towel before placing the lid on top. This helps absorb excess moisture and prevents the topping from becoming soggy.

Step 6

Cook on LOW for 3 hours or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.

Step 7

Once done, carefully remove the lid and towel, allowing any steam to escape. Let the apple crisp cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.

Step 8

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a dollop of whipped cream, or enjoy it on its own!
