Ingredients

  • 2 lb Beef cube steak
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 3 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 2 cups Beef broth
  • 1 can Cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 large Onion, sliced

Directions

Step 1

In a shallow dish, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Step 2

Dredge each piece of beef cube steak in the flour mixture, coating both sides. Shake off any excess flour.

Step 3

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

Step 4

Sear the floured steaks in the hot skillet for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown. Do this in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding the pan.

Step 5

Transfer the seared steaks to the crock pot, arranging them in layers if required.

Step 6

In the same skillet, deglaze the pan by pouring in 1/2 cup of the beef broth and scraping up any browned bits. Turn off the heat.

Step 7

In a medium bowl, whisk together the remaining beef broth and the cream of mushroom soup until smooth.

Step 8

Pour the broth mixture over the steaks in the crock pot.

Step 9

Top with the sliced onion, spreading them evenly over the steaks.

Step 10

Cover and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours, or until the steaks are fork-tender.

Step 11

Serve warm, and enjoy with mashed potatoes, rice, or your favorite vegetables.
