Ingredients

  • 4 whole Pears
  • 0.5 cup Maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.25 cup Orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped pecans (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Peel the pears, leaving the stems intact, and remove the core from the bottom using a paring knife or melon baller.

Step 2

In a small saucepan, combine the maple syrup, unsalted butter, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, vanilla extract, and orange juice. Heat over medium-low heat until the butter melts and the ingredients are well combined. Remove from heat.

Step 3

Place the peeled pears upright in the crock pot.

Step 4

Pour the maple mixture over the pears, making sure they are evenly coated.

Step 5

Cover the crock pot and cook on the LOW setting for 3 hours, or until the pears are tender when pierced with a fork.

Step 6

Baste the pears with the sauce from the bottom of the crock pot every hour to ensure even flavor distribution.

Step 7

Once cooked, carefully transfer the pears to serving bowls. Spoon the warm maple sauce over the top.

Step 8

Garnish with chopped pecans, if desired, and serve warm.
