Ingredients

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup Sugar
  • 0.25 cup Cocoa powder (unsweetened)
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup Brown sugar
  • 1.5 cups Hot water
  • 0.5 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 0 Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Grease the inside of your crock pot lightly using butter or non-stick cooking spray.

Step 2

In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

Step 3

Stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth and well combined.

Step 4

Spread the batter evenly into the bottom of the crock pot.

Step 5

Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the batter.

Step 6

Pour the hot water over the top of the mixture. Do not stir. The hot water will help create a gooey chocolate sauce as it cooks.

Step 7

Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top.

Step 8

Place the lid on the crock pot and cook on high for 2 hours, or until the center is set but still slightly gooey.

Step 9

Once done, turn off the crock pot and let the dessert rest uncovered for about 10 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken.

Step 10

Scoop the warm chocolate heaven into bowls and serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, if desired.
