Ingredients

  • 8 cups (cubed, about half a loaf) French bread
  • 1 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 2.5 cups Whole milk
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon (for greasing) Unsalted butter

Directions

Step 1

Cube the French bread into 1-inch pieces and set aside in a large mixing bowl.

Step 2

Grease the inside of the crock pot with the unsalted butter to prevent sticking.

Step 3

In a separate medium-sized bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Step 4

Pour the egg and milk mixture over the cubed bread, ensuring all of the bread pieces are soaked. Gently mix until evenly coated.

Step 5

Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips to distribute them throughout the mixture.

Step 6

Transfer the bread mixture into the prepared crock pot, spreading it out evenly.

Step 7

Cover the crock pot with the lid and cook on LOW for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the pudding is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Step 8

Once done, turn off the crock pot and let the bread pudding cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

Step 9

Serve warm as is, or top with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.
