Ingredients

  • 6 whole Granny Smith apples
  • 2 cups Caramel candies
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.5 cup Chopped nuts (optional)
  • 0.5 cup Sprinkles or mini chocolate chips (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Clean and dry each apple thoroughly, ensuring no wax coating remains to help the caramel stick better. Remove the stems and insert a wooden stick or dowel about halfway into each apple.

Step 2

Line the inside of the crock pot with parchment paper or spray it lightly with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Step 3

Unwrap the caramel candies and place them in the crock pot along with the unsalted butter, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt.

Step 4

Turn the crock pot to low heat. Stir the mixture occasionally as the caramel melts and becomes smooth. This should take about 30 minutes.

Step 5

Once the caramel mixture is ready, dip each apple into the melted caramel, turning to coat it evenly. Let any excess caramel drip off slightly before placing the apple on a sheet of parchment paper to set. If desired, roll the caramel-coated apple into chopped nuts, sprinkles, or mini chocolate chips before it hardens.

Step 6

Repeat the dipping process for all the apples. Leave the apples to set for another 10-15 minutes in the crock pot while on the 'warm' setting if necessary.

Step 7

Allow the caramel apples to cool completely at room temperature for about 1-2 hours or until the caramel is firm to the touch.

Step 8

Serve and enjoy your homemade Crock Pot Caramel Apples!
