  • 1.5 pounds Ground beef
  • 1 large head Green cabbage
  • 1 medium Yellow onion
  • 2 whole Garlic cloves
  • 15 ounces Tomato sauce
  • 14.5 ounces Diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup Beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon Dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Start by preparing the vegetables: core and chop the cabbage into bite-sized pieces, dice the onion, and mince the garlic.

Step 2

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil. Sauté the diced onion and minced garlic for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.

Step 3

Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Drain any excess grease if necessary.

In the same skillet, stir in the smoked paprika, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional minute to toast the spices.

Repeat the layers: add the remaining cabbage, beef mixture, and sauce to the crock pot.

Cover the crock pot with the lid and set it to cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6-7 hours, or until the cabbage is tender.

Fifteen minutes before serving, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top. Cover and let the cheese melt into the casserole.
