Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Beef stew meat, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, diced
  • 8 ounces Cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup Marsala wine
  • 1 cup Beef broth
  • 0.5 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon Water
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Season the beef stew meat with salt and black pepper evenly on all sides.

Step 2

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the beef in batches until browned on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Transfer the beef to the crock pot.

Step 3

In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and diced onion. Sauté for 2-3 minutes, or until softened and aromatic.

Step 4

Add the sliced cremini mushrooms to the skillet and cook for another 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are browned.

Step 5

Deglaze the skillet with the Marsala wine, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Simmer for 2 minutes, then pour the mixture over the beef in the crock pot.

Step 6

Add the beef broth to the crock pot and stir gently to combine all ingredients.

Step 7

Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 6 hours, or until the beef is tender and the flavors have melded together.

Step 8

In a small bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, cornstarch, and water until smooth. Stir this mixture into the crock pot during the last 30 minutes of cooking to thicken the sauce.

Step 9

Taste and adjust the seasoning with additional salt and pepper, if needed.

Step 10

Once done, serve the Beef Marsala hot, garnished with freshly chopped parsley, over mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered noodles.
