Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Chicken breasts
  • 1 cup Barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Lightly grease the inside of your crock pot with non-stick spray or line it with a slow cooker liner to prevent sticking.

Step 2

Place the chicken breasts in the crock pot in a single layer.

Step 3

In a medium bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well blended.

Step 4

Pour the barbecue sauce mixture evenly over the chicken breasts, ensuring they are fully coated.

Step 5

Cover the crock pot with the lid and cook on low heat for 6-7 hours or on high heat for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and fully cooked (internal temperature of 165°F/74°C).

Step 6

Once cooked, use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the crock pot if desired, or leave the breasts whole.

Step 7

If the sauce is too thin, remove the lid and allow the sauce to thicken on high heat for an additional 20-30 minutes.

Step 8

Serve the BBQ chicken on buns, over rice, or alongside your favorite side dishes. Enjoy!
