  • 6 large Granny Smith apples
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 sheets Refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1 can Nonstick cooking spray
  • 1 pint Vanilla ice cream (optional for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Peel, core, and slice the Granny Smith apples into 1/4-inch thick slices.

Step 2

In a large bowl, mix together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, salt, and cornstarch.

Step 3

Add the sliced apples to the bowl and gently toss to coat them evenly with the sugar mixture.

Step 4

Drizzle the lemon juice over the coated apples and mix gently.

Spray the inside of a 6-quart slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
