Ingredients

  • 6 cups Apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
  • 0.5 cup White granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup Brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 0.75 cup All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup Rolled oats
  • 0.5 cup Butter (cold, cubed)
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1

Grease the inside of your crock pot with cooking spray or a light coating of butter to prevent sticking.

Step 2

In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with white granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Mix until the apples are evenly coated.

Step 3

Pour the apple mixture into the bottom of the crock pot and spread it out evenly.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and salt for the crumb topping.

Step 5

Add the cubed butter to the crumb topping mixture and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the texture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 6

Sprinkle the crumb topping mixture evenly over the apples in the crock pot.

Step 7

Cover the crock pot with its lid and cook on low heat for 3 hours, or until the apples are tender and bubbling and the topping is golden and crisp.

Step 8

Once done, remove the lid and let the apple crisp sit for about 10 minutes to allow the topping to firm up slightly.

Step 9

Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
