Ingredients

  • 12 pieces large sea scallops
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup cornstarch
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.25 cup vegetable oil
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 piece green onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Pat the scallops dry with paper towels and remove the side muscle if still attached.

Step 2

In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

Step 3

Dredge each scallop in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess, and set them aside on a plate.

Step 4

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey, grated ginger, and minced garlic to create the dipping sauce. Top with sliced green onion and sesame seeds, if using. Set aside.

Step 5

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 6

Once the oil is hot, carefully add the scallops to the skillet, spacing them evenly and ensuring they do not touch.

Step 7

Cook the scallops for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

Step 8

Serve the scallops immediately with the soy dipping sauce on the side.
