Ingredients

  • 14 ounces extra-firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Remove the tofu from its packaging and drain off any liquid. Wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel or paper towels and press gently to remove as much moisture as possible. Alternatively, place the wrapped tofu on a plate and weigh it down with a heavy object for about 10 minutes.

Step 3

Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes and transfer them to a mixing bowl.

Step 4

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, olive oil, cornstarch, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper until smooth.

Step 5

Pour the marinade over the tofu cubes and gently toss until they are evenly coated.

Step 6

Spread the tofu cubes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring none of the pieces are touching one another.

Step 7

Roast the tofu in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.

Step 8

After 15 minutes, remove the baking sheet from the oven and use a spatula to gently flip the tofu pieces for even cooking.

Step 9

Return the baking sheet to the oven and continue roasting for another 15 minutes or until the tofu is golden brown and crispy.

Step 10

Once done, remove the tofu from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy as a topping for salads, in grain bowls, or as a tasty snack!
