Ingredients

  • 500 grams Prawns
  • 100 grams Breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander
  • 1 medium Green chili
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 200 milliliters Vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

Begin by cleaning the prawns, removing the shells, and deveining them. Pat them dry with a paper towel.

Step 2

Place the prawns in a food processor and pulse until they form a coarse paste. Be careful not to over-process.

Step 3

Chop the garlic cloves, fresh coriander, and green chili finely.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the prawn paste, chopped garlic, coriander, and green chili.

Step 5

Add the egg, breadcrumbs, soy sauce, fish sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper to the bowl.

Step 6

Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined. The mixture should be malleable and hold together.

Step 7

Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a small, flat patty.

Step 8

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 9

Once the oil is hot, carefully place the prawn cakes into the skillet. Do not overcrowd the pan.

Step 10

Cook each side for about 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through.

Step 11

Remove the prawn cakes from the skillet and drain them on a plate lined with paper towels to remove excess oil.

Step 12

Serve the prawn cakes hot with your choice of dipping sauce or as part of a meal.
