Ingredients

  • 4 pieces (6 oz each) salmon fillets, skin-on
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 0.5 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 piece red chili (optional), thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • 2 tablespoons scallions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Directions

Step 1

Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

Step 2

Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the pan and cook for 4-5 minutes until the skin is crispy.

Step 3

Flip the salmon fillets carefully and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes or until the salmon is just cooked through. Remove the salmon from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

In a small bowl, combine orange juice, honey, soy sauce, fish sauce, white vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sliced red chili (if using). Stir to mix well.

Step 5

In another small bowl, mix cornstarch with water and set aside.

Step 6

Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of sesame oil to the skillet over medium heat. Pour in the orange sauce mixture and bring it to a simmer.

Step 7

Stir the cornstarch slurry into the sauce and let it cook for 1-2 minutes until thickened.

Step 8

Return the salmon fillets to the skillet, spoon the glaze over the fillets, and cook for 1 additional minute to warm through.

Step 9

Garnish the glazed salmon with chopped scallions and sesame seeds before serving.

Step 10

Serve immediately with jasmine rice or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
