  • 1 kg fresh cassava
  • 2 liters water
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 500 milliliters vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

Peel the cassava using a sharp knife to remove the thick brown skin and the white layer beneath it. Cut the peeled cassava into 3-4 inch long sections.

Fill a large pot with 2 liters of water and bring it to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the boiling water.

Carefully place the cassava pieces into the boiling water. Reduce the heat to medium and let them cook for about 15 minutes or until you can easily pierce them with a fork.

Once cooked, remove the cassava from the pot using a slotted spoon and let it drain and cool slightly in a colander.
