Ingredients

  • 4 pieces (6 oz each) salmon fillets
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 0.75 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Season the salmon fillets with salt and black pepper on both sides.

Step 2

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, sear the salmon fillets skin-side down for 4-5 minutes, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until just cooked through. Remove the salmon from the skillet and set aside.

Step 3

In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.

Step 4

Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream. Let it simmer gently for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 5

Add the grated Parmesan cheese and whisk until fully melted and the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.

Step 6

Stir in the lemon juice, chopped parsley, and red pepper flakes (if using). Simmer for another 1-2 minutes.

Step 7

Return the salmon fillets to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the top. Let them cook in the sauce for 2-3 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Step 8

Serve immediately, garnished with additional parsley if desired. This dish pairs well with roasted vegetables or a side of creamy mashed potatoes.
