Directions

Step 1

In a large pot, cook the bacon slices over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon from the pot and set aside on a paper-towel-lined plate. Reserve 2 tablespoons of the rendered bacon fat in the pot.

Add the unsalted butter to the pot with the bacon fat and melt over medium heat. Dice the yellow onion and sauté it in the pot until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
