Ingredients

  • 12 oz Creamettes elbow macaroni
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 4 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 3 cups Whole milk
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 3 cups Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Gruyere cheese, shredded
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Ground black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp Paprika
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and set aside.

Step 2

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the Creamettes elbow macaroni according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 3

In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, to remove the raw flour taste.

Step 4

Slowly pour in the milk and heavy cream, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the mixture thickens slightly.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to low and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and Gruyere cheese, one handful at a time, until melted and smooth.

Step 6

Season the cheese sauce with salt, black pepper, and paprika. Remove the saucepan from the heat.

Step 7

Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and toss to coat evenly.

Step 8

Pour the macaroni and cheese mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Step 9

In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, and olive oil. Mix until the breadcrumbs are evenly coated.

Step 10

Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the macaroni and cheese in the baking dish.

Step 11

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

Step 12

Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
