Ingredients

  • 1 cup Cream of Wheat (fine or original)
  • 4 cups Milk
  • 0.5 cup Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it just begins to steam. Do not let it boil.

Step 3

Gradually whisk in the Cream of Wheat, ensuring there are no lumps. Stir constantly for about 5 minutes, or until the mixture becomes thick and smooth.

Step 4

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the sugar, butter, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt. Let it cool slightly for 5 minutes.

Step 5

In a small bowl, beat the eggs lightly. Slowly add the eggs to the Cream of Wheat mixture, stirring continuously to avoid curdling.

Step 6

Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top with a spatula.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the edges are set, and the center is slightly jiggly. A toothpick inserted 1 inch from the edges should come out clean.

Step 8

Remove from the oven and let the dish cool completely before slicing into squares.

Step 9

Serve the squares warm or at room temperature. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with maple syrup before serving.
