Ingredients

  • 180 grams Cream cheese
  • 20 grams Fresh salad burnet leaves
  • 1 medium-sized Cucumber
  • 8 slices White bread
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 pinch Freshly ground black pepper
  • 30 grams Butter

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of freshly ground black pepper. Mix until smooth and spreadable.

Step 2

Rinse the salad burnet leaves thoroughly under cold water and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towel. Finely chop the leaves and stir them into the cream cheese mixture.

Step 3

Peel the cucumber and slice it into very thin rounds using a sharp knife or mandoline. Place the cucumber slices on a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

Step 4

Trim the crusts off each slice of white bread to create neat, square pieces of bread.

Step 5

Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of bread. This will prevent the cream cheese from making the bread soggy.

Step 6

Spread the prepared cream cheese and salad burnet mixture evenly over the buttered side of 4 slices of bread.

Step 7

Arrange the cucumber slices in a single layer on top of the cream cheese mixture.

Step 8

Place the remaining 4 slices of bread on top of each prepared slice, buttered side down, to assemble the sandwiches.

Step 9

Using a sharp knife, cut each sandwich into 4 triangles or squares for classic tea sandwich presentation.

Step 10

Serve immediately, or cover with a slightly damp paper towel and plastic wrap to keep them fresh until serving.
