Ingredients

  • 2 large Cucumber
  • 8 tablespoons Cream cheese
  • 6 sticks Carrot sticks
  • 3 slices Cheese slices (any firm type like cheddar or provolone)
  • 12 sticks Pretzel sticks
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Garlic powder (optional)

Directions

Step 1

1. Wash the cucumbers thoroughly and slice them into 1-inch thick rounds. You should get approximately 12 rounds per cucumber.

Step 2

2. Using a spoon or small melon baller, gently scoop out a small indentation in the center of each cucumber round. Be careful not to go all the way through the bottom.

Step 3

3. In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese with salt and garlic powder (if using) until well combined.

Step 4

4. Spoon a dollop of the cream cheese mixture into each cucumber cup, smoothing the top with the back of the spoon.

Step 5

5. Wash and dry the carrot sticks, then cut them into roughly 2-inch long pieces. These will serve as the masts for the sailboats.

Step 6

6. Cut the cheese slices diagonally into triangles to mimic sails. You should get two triangles per slice.

Step 7

7. Assemble the sailboats by carefully inserting one end of a pretzel stick into the base of a cheese triangle, forming a “sail.” Place the pretzel stick with the cheese sail vertically into the cream cheese mixture in the cucumber cup.

Step 8

8. Push a carrot stick next to the pretzel sail to serve as the “mast.” Repeat for all cucumber rounds.

Step 9

9. Arrange the cucumber sailboats on a serving plate and serve immediately, or store in the refrigerator for up to 2 hours before serving.
