Ingredients

  • 1 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1.5 cups Brown sugar, packed
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 3 whole Large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 8 ounces Cream cheese, softened
  • 0.25 cup Granulated sugar (for cream cheese filling)
  • 1 whole Large egg (for cream cheese filling)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract (for cream cheese filling)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan. Line it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Remove from heat and whisk in the brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth. Allow the mixture to cool for 5 minutes.

Step 3

Once cooled slightly, whisk in the eggs and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until combined. Do not overmix.

Step 5

Pour about two-thirds of the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Set aside the remaining batter.

Step 6

To make the cream cheese filling, beat together the softened cream cheese, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, 1 egg, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract using an electric mixer. Mix until smooth and creamy.

Step 7

Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the batter in the pan.

Step 8

Dollop the reserved blondie batter over the cream cheese layer. Use a knife or skewer to swirl the two layers together for a marbled effect.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Step 10

Allow the blonde brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Once cool, use the parchment overhang to lift them out of the pan for easy slicing.

Step 11

Cut into 16 squares and serve. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
