Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Puff pastry sheets
  • 120 grams Cream cheese (softened)
  • 30 grams Powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 120 grams Strawberry jam
  • 1 large Egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon Milk (for egg wash)
  • 10 grams Granulated sugar (optional, for topping)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets if they are not pre-rolled. Cut each sheet into six equal rectangles, creating 12 total pieces.

Step 3

In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

Step 4

Place a dollop (about 1 tablespoon) of the cream cheese mixture in the center of six of the puff pastry rectangles. Spread slightly, leaving about a 1 cm (1/2 inch) border.

Step 5

Add a dollop (about 1 tablespoon) of strawberry jam on top of the cream cheese layer and gently spread.

Step 6

Brush the edges of the filled pastry rectangles with a little water. Place the remaining six pastry rectangles over the filling, pressing the edges together firmly to seal. You can use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.

Step 7

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk to make an egg wash. Brush the tops of the pastries lightly with the egg wash.

Step 8

If desired, sprinkle the tops of the pastries with granulated sugar for added sweetness and shine.

Step 9

Using a sharp knife, cut a small slit or poke a few holes in the top of each pastry to allow steam to escape.

Step 10

Place the pastries on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly apart.

Step 11

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.

Step 12

Remove from the oven and let the pastries cool slightly before serving.
