Ingredients

  • 4 cups Water
  • 1 cup Fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 strip (about 2 inches) Orange zest
  • 1 piece Cinnamon stick
  • 4 pieces Whole cloves
  • 2 tablespoons Honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
  • 2 bags or teaspoons Black tea bags or loose black tea

Directions

Step 1

In a medium-sized saucepan, combine water, cranberries, orange zest, cinnamon stick, and cloves.

Step 2

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 10 minutes. The cranberries will burst as they cook, releasing their flavor.

Step 3

After 10 minutes, add the black tea bags or loose black tea to the saucepan. Let it steep for 3-5 minutes, depending on how strong you prefer your tea.

Step 4

Remove the saucepan from the heat and strain the tea into a teapot or serving jug using a fine mesh sieve. Discard the solids.

Step 5

If desired, stir in honey or maple syrup to sweeten the tea to your liking.

Step 6

Serve the tea hot in mugs. Optionally, garnish with a fresh slice of orange or a cinnamon stick for presentation.
