Ingredients

  • 1 piece Brie wheel (8 oz)
  • 1.5 cups Cranberry sauce (canned or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons Dark rum
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Orange zest
  • 0.25 cup Chopped pecans (optional)
  • 1 piece Puff pastry sheet (thawed, if frozen)
  • 1 piece Egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon Water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the cranberry sauce, dark rum, brown sugar, and orange zest. Stir until the mixture is heated through and slightly thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Step 3

Place your thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and gently roll it out just enough to remove any creases.

Step 4

In the center of the pastry sheet, place the wheel of brie. Top the brie with the cranberry-rum mixture, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle chopped pecans over the top, if using.

Step 5

Fold the puff pastry over the brie, gathering the edges to fully enclose it. Pinch the edges to seal, trimming off any excess pastry if needed.

Step 6

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and water to make an egg wash. Brush the surface of the pastry with the egg wash to create a golden finish when baked.

Step 7

Carefully transfer the wrapped brie to the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.

Step 9

Remove from oven and let the brie rest for 5 minutes to firm up slightly before serving.

Step 10

Serve warm with crackers, sliced baguette, or fresh fruit.
