Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup orange juice
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 piece cinnamon stick
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch pinch of salt

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the cranberries under cold water and set aside. If using frozen cranberries or raspberries, no need to thaw.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, combine the orange juice, water, and sugar. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely.

Step 3

Add the cranberries, raspberries, orange zest, cinnamon stick, and a pinch of salt to the saucepan.

Step 4

Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Step 5

Simmer for about 15 minutes or until the cranberries pop and the sauce begins to thicken.

Step 6

Remove the saucepan from heat and discard the cinnamon stick. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 7

Let the sauce cool to room temperature. It will thicken further as it cools.

Step 8

Transfer to a serving dish or airtight container and refrigerate until ready to serve.
