Ingredients

  • 2 cups Fresh cranberries
  • 2 medium Pear (ripe, peeled, cored, and diced)
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 0.25 cup Orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger (fresh, grated)
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 0.25 teaspoon Cloves (ground)
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Raisins (optional)
  • 0.25 cup Water

Directions

Step 1

In a medium-sized saucepan, combine fresh cranberries, diced pears, granulated sugar, apple cider vinegar, orange juice, and water.

Step 2

Stir the mixture over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the liquid begins to simmer, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 3

Add grated ginger, the cinnamon stick, ground cloves, salt, and raisins (if using) to the saucepan. Stir to combine.

Step 4

Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer uncovered for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries burst and the pears become tender.

Step 5

Remove the cinnamon stick and taste the chutney. Adjust sweetness or acidity, if needed, by adding a little more sugar or vinegar.

Step 6

Allow the chutney to cool to room temperature before serving. The mixture will thicken as it cools.

Step 7

Serve chilled or at room temperature as a condiment or spread. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
