Ingredients

  • 12 ounces Fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup Water
  • 0.25 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 pieces Jalapeno peppers
  • 1 tablespoon Finely minced fresh ginger
  • 1 piece Cinnamon stick
  • 0.25 teaspoons Ground allspice
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Orange zest
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the fresh cranberries and pick out any that are spoiled or damaged. Set aside.

Step 2

Finely mince the jalapeno peppers, removing the seeds and membranes if you prefer a milder heat. Set aside.

Step 3

In a medium saucepan, combine the water, sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely.

Step 4

Stir in the cranberries, minced jalapenos, fresh ginger, cinnamon stick, ground allspice, and salt.

Step 5

Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally. The cranberries should burst, and the chutney will begin to thicken as it cooks.

Step 6

Once the chutney has reached your desired consistency, remove it from the heat and stir in the orange zest.

Step 7

Discard the cinnamon stick and let the chutney cool to room temperature. Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro, if desired, before serving.

Step 8

Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. The flavors will deepen over time.
