Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup dried apricots
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange zest
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cloves

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the cranberries under cold water and pick out any spoiled or soft berries.

Step 2

Chop the dried apricots into small pieces and set aside.

Step 3

In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, orange juice, and granulated sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium-high heat.

Step 4

Reduce the heat to medium and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries start to burst.

Step 5

Stir in the chopped dried apricots, chopped walnuts, orange zest, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves.

Step 6

Continue to cook for another 8–10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens slightly and the flavors meld together.

Step 7

Remove the saucepan from heat and let the conserve cool to room temperature. The mixture will thicken further as it cools.

Step 8

Transfer the cranberry conserve to a clean, airtight container and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to develop.

Step 9

Serve as a condiment with holiday meals, as a topping for yogurt or oatmeal, or as a spread for bread or crackers.
