Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 0.5 cups orange juice
  • 0.75 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoons orange zest
  • 1 medium diced apple (peeled and cored)
  • 0.5 cups golden raisins
  • 0.25 teaspoons salt

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the fresh cranberries thoroughly under cold water and set them aside.

Step 2

In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the orange juice, granulated sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Stir well to dissolve the sugar.

Step 3

Set the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer.

Step 4

Add the cranberries, diced apple, golden raisins, orange zest, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and salt to the saucepan.

Step 5

Stir the mixture to combine and allow it to return to a simmer.

Step 6

Cook for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries have burst and the mixture thickens. Use the back of a spoon to gently mash some of the cranberries if desired for a smoother texture.

Step 7

Taste the chutney and adjust the seasoning, adding more sugar or salt if necessary to balance the flavors.

Step 8

Remove the chutney from heat and let it cool to room temperature. The chutney will thicken further as it cools.

Step 9

Once cooled, transfer the chutney to a clean, airtight container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 10

Serve chilled or at room temperature as a side dish, condiment, or spread. Enjoy!
