Ingredients

  • 12 oz Fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup Dried apricots
  • 0.75 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 0.5 cup Water
  • 0.33 cup Fresh orange juice
  • 1 tsp Fresh orange zest
  • 2 tsp Grated fresh ginger
  • 0.5 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp Ground allspice
  • 0.25 tsp Salt

Directions

Step 1

Start by roughly chopping the dried apricots into small pieces so they will blend well with the cranberries in the chutney.

Step 2

In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the cranberries, chopped apricots, granulated sugar, apple cider vinegar, water, orange juice, and orange zest.

Step 3

Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir the mixture gently until the sugar dissolves completely.

Step 4

Add the grated ginger, ground cinnamon, ground allspice, and salt to the saucepan. Stir to incorporate the spices evenly.

Step 5

Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.

Step 6

Cook the chutney for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries have burst and the mixture has thickened to a jam-like consistency.

Step 7

Remove the saucepan from heat and let the chutney cool slightly. It will continue to thicken as it cools.

Step 8

Transfer the chutney to a clean, airtight container and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 9

Serve chilled or at room temperature with your favorite dishes, such as roasted turkey, pork chops, or a cheese platter.
