Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 pieces burger buns
  • 4 slices sliced cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 4 pieces lettuce leaves
  • 4 pieces sliced tomatoes
  • 8 pieces sliced pickles
  • 4 tablespoons ketchup
  • 4 teaspoons mustard
  • 4 teaspoons mayonnaise

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently with your hands until well incorporated, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent puffing during cooking.

Step 3

Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates or skillet to prevent sticking.

Step 4

Place the burger patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C). If using cheese, add a slice to each patty during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.

Step 5

While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

Step 6

Assemble the burgers: Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun. Place a lettuce leaf, a slice of tomato, and two pickle slices on top. Add the cooked patty (with melted cheese if using) and finish with ketchup and mustard. Place the top bun to complete the burger.

Step 7

Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes, such as fries, salad, or coleslaw. Enjoy!
