Ingredients

  • 8 ounces Cream cheese
  • 6 ounces Imitation crab meat (or real crab meat, finely chopped)
  • 2 stalks Green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 24 pieces Wonton wrappers
  • 4 cups Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 0 optional Sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce (for dipping)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, chopped imitation crab meat (or real crab), green onions, soy sauce, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined.

Step 2

Lay a wonton wrapper on a clean, flat surface. Place about 1 teaspoon of the crab and cream cheese filling in the center of the wrapper.

Step 3

Dip your finger in the water and run it along all four edges of the wonton wrapper to moisten.

Step 4

Fold the wrapper in half diagonally to form a triangle and press the edges firmly to seal, ensuring no air remains inside. Alternatively, bring all four corners together in the center to create a pouch-like shape, pinching to seal.

Step 5

Repeat the process with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Step 6

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C). You can use a thermometer to check the temperature.

Step 7

Carefully add a few wontons at a time to the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding. Fry each batch for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the wontons from the oil and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Step 8

Repeat until all wontons are fried.

Step 9

Serve warm with sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce for dipping, and enjoy!
