Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 6 oz cooked crab meat
  • 2 stalks green onions
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • 1 egg
  • 4 cups vegetable oil
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

Step 1

In a medium mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, crab meat, and finely chopped green onions.

Step 2

Add soy sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the cream cheese mixture. Mix until well combined.

Step 3

Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Beat the egg in a small bowl and use it as a wash for sealing the wontons.

Step 4

Place about 1 teaspoon of the crab mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper.

Step 5

Using a brush or your finger, apply a small amount of egg wash around the edges of the wonton wrapper.

Step 6

Fold the wrapper over diagonally to create a triangle shape, pressing firmly to seal the edges tightly.

Step 7

Gently press out any air bubbles to ensure a proper seal.

Step 8

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large, heavy-bottomed pan to 350°F (175°C).

Step 9

Carefully drop a few rangoons into the hot oil without overcrowding the pan and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 10

Remove the rangoons with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

Step 11

Repeat the frying process until all rangoons are cooked.

Step 12

Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce such as sweet and sour, sweet chili, or soy sauce.
