Ingredients

  • 1 pound Lump crab meat
  • 0.5 cup Plain breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup Mayonnaise
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 0.5 cup Additional breadcrumbs (for coating)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, parsley, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth and well combined.

Step 2

Gently fold the lump crab meat and plain breadcrumbs into the mixture. Be careful not to break up the crab meat too much. The mixture should hold together but still be moist.

Step 3

Using your hands, form the crab mixture into evenly sized patties (about 3 inches wide and 1 inch thick). This recipe makes approximately 6 crab cakes.

Step 4

Pour the additional breadcrumbs onto a plate or shallow dish. Lightly coat each crab cake with the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to help them stick.

Step 5

Heat the butter and vegetable oil together in a large skillet over medium heat. The mixture should be hot but not smoking.

Step 6

Carefully place the crab cakes in the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the crab cakes are golden brown and heated through.

Step 7

Remove the crab cakes from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Step 8

Serve immediately with your choice of dipping sauces, like tartar sauce or a spicy remoulade, alongside a fresh salad or steamed vegetables. Enjoy!
