Ingredients

  • 250 grams fresh crab meat
  • 100 grams cream cheese
  • 150 grams breadcrumbs
  • 50 grams all-purpose flour
  • 2 pieces egg
  • 2 stalks green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper
  • 500 milliliters vegetable oil for frying

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the crab meat, cream cheese, green onions, minced garlic, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until everything is evenly incorporated.

Step 2

Using your hands or a tablespoon, scoop out a small portion of the mixture and roll it into a ball approximately 1-inch in diameter. Repeat with the remaining mixture to form all the bon bons.

Step 3

Set up a breading station with three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.

Step 4

Dredge each crab ball in the flour, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it in the breadcrumbs. Make sure they are completely coated for an even, crispy finish.

Step 5

In a deep saucepan or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 175°C (350°F). Test the oil with a small piece of bread; it should sizzle and turn golden in about 30 seconds.

Step 6

Fry the crab bon bons in small batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry each batch for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

Step 7

Using a slotted spoon, remove the bon bons from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 8

Serve the Crab Bon Bons warm as a delightful appetizer with your favorite dip or sauce.
