Ingredients

  • 4 lbs Country-style pork ribs
  • 2 tbsp Paprika
  • 1 tbsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • 1 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Liquid smoke (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix together the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and brown sugar to create a dry rub.

Step 3

Pat the ribs dry with paper towels and rub the dry spice mixture evenly onto all sides of the ribs.

Step 4

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the ribs for 2-3 minutes per side, working in batches if necessary, until browned.

Step 5

Transfer the seared ribs to the prepared baking sheet, arranging them in a single layer.

Step 6

In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, honey, smoked paprika, and liquid smoke (if using). Stir well and bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.

Step 7

Brush a generous amount of the barbecue sauce over the ribs, coating them evenly on top and sides.

Step 8

Cover the ribs tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 hours, until the meat is tender and easily pulls away from the bone.

Step 9

Remove the foil, brush the ribs with more barbecue sauce, and increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C). Bake uncovered for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce is caramelized.

Step 10

Let the ribs rest for 5 minutes before serving. Serve with any remaining barbecue sauce on the side.
