Ingredients

  • 3 lbs Country-style pork ribs
  • 1.5 cups Barbecue sauce
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 0.5 cups Chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.

Step 2

Season the country-style pork ribs on all sides with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika.

Step 3

Sear the ribs in the hot skillet for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. This step is optional but enhances flavor.

Step 4

Transfer the seared ribs to the crock pot.

Step 5

In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened. Add the onions to the crock pot.

Step 6

Add the minced garlic, chicken broth, barbecue sauce, and brown sugar to the crock pot. Stir to combine and coat the ribs evenly.

Step 7

Cover the crock pot with the lid and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the ribs are tender and fall apart easily.

Step 8

Once cooked, carefully remove the ribs from the crock pot and place them on a serving platter.

Step 9

If desired, skim any excess fat from the sauce in the crock pot. You can serve the sauce as it is, or thicken it by simmering it in a saucepan over medium heat for 5 minutes.

Step 10

Serve the ribs hot, garnished with extra barbecue sauce or fresh herbs if desired. Pair with mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or cornbread for a complete meal.
