Husk the corn and remove all the silk. Rinse the corn under cold water to clean it thoroughly.
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the water, then carefully place the corn in the pot. Boil the corn for 8–10 minutes until tender.
While the corn is cooking, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
