Ingredients

  • 1 cup, packed fresh coriander leaves (cilantro)
  • 0.5 cup, packed fresh mint leaves
  • 1 medium-sized green chilies
  • 1 small garlic clove
  • 0.5 inch piece ginger
  • 2 tablespoons plain yogurt (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 0.5 teaspoon or to taste salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon (optional) sugar

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the coriander leaves and mint leaves thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt or grit.

Step 2

Roughly chop the fresh coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chili, ginger, and garlic for easier blending.

Step 3

Add the chopped coriander, mint, green chili, garlic, and ginger to a blender or food processor.

Step 4

Pour in the lemon juice and water. If using yogurt, add it now for a creamier consistency.

Step 5

Season with salt and sugar (if using) to balance the flavors.

Step 6

Blend the ingredients until smooth. If the chutney seems too thick, add an additional tablespoon of water and blend again.

Step 7

Taste the chutney and adjust the seasoning, adding more salt, lemon juice, or sugar as needed.

Step 8

Transfer the chutney to a serving bowl. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
