Ingredients

  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 0.333 cup Unsalted butter (melted)
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 packet Active dry yeast
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 tablespoons Ground cinnamon
  • 0.333 cup Unsalted butter (softened, for filling)
  • 4 ounces Cream cheese (softened)
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter (softened, for icing)
  • 1.5 cups Powdered sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons Whole milk (for icing)

Directions

Step 1

Warm the milk in a small saucepan or microwave until it is just warm to the touch (about 110°F/43°C). Transfer it to a large mixing bowl.

Step 2

Add the melted butter and granulated sugar to the warm milk and stir to combine. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for 5-7 minutes, until frothy.

Step 3

Add the eggs, 3 cups of flour, and salt to the bowl. Mix until the dough starts to come together. Add the remaining 1 cup of flour, a little at a time, and knead until the dough is soft and slightly sticky, about 5-7 minutes by hand or 3-4 minutes in a stand mixer with a dough hook.

Step 4

Grease a large bowl with oil or cooking spray. Place the dough in the bowl, turning to coat, and cover with a clean towel or plastic wrap. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

Step 5

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon for the filling.

Step 6

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll the dough into a large rectangle, about 16x12 inches.

Step 7

Spread the softened butter for the filling evenly over the surface of the dough. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the butter.

Step 8

Roll the dough tightly from the long edge to form a log. Cut the log into 12 even slices and place them in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, leaving a little bit of space between each roll.

Step 9

Cover the dish with a towel and allow the rolls to rise again for about 30 minutes, or until slightly puffy.

Step 10

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Once the rolls have risen, bake them in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until lightly golden brown.

Step 11

While the rolls are baking, prepare the icing. In a mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese, softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth and creamy.

Step 12

Once the rolls are finished baking, allow them to cool for about 10 minutes. Spread the cream cheese icing generously over the warm rolls.

Step 13

Serve immediately and enjoy the gooey, indulgent goodness of your homemade Cinnabon rolls!
