Ingredients

  • 200 grams cookies (e.g., graham crackers, Oreos, or shortbread)
  • 85 grams unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 pinch salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F).

Step 2

Prepare your cookie base by adding 200 grams (about 2 cups of crushed cookies) to a food processor. Pulse until finely ground into crumbs.

Step 3

Transfer the cookie crumbs to a mixing bowl and add 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and a pinch of salt. Stir to combine.

Step 4

Pour in 85 grams (approximately 6 tablespoons) of melted unsalted butter. Mix until all the crumbs are evenly coated and the texture resembles wet sand.

Step 5

Press the mixture evenly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie pan. Use the back of a spoon or the bottom of a flat measuring cup to firmly press it down.

Step 6

Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 8–10 minutes, or until lightly golden and fragrant. Watch closely to avoid overbaking.

Step 7

Remove from the oven and let the crust cool completely before filling with your desired pie filling.

Step 8

If your recipe calls for an unbaked crust (such as a refrigerated pie), skip the baking step and chill the pressed crust in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before filling.
