Ingredients

  • 6 pieces Frankfurt sausages
  • 4 medium Potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups Milk
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cups Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Parsley
  • 0.5 cups Breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Peel the potatoes and slice them thinly into rounds. Par-boil them in salted water for 7 minutes, then drain and set aside.

Step 3

While the potatoes are cooking, cut the Frankfurt sausages into 1-inch pieces.

Step 4

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk continuously for 1-2 minutes to form a smooth roux.

Step 5

Gradually pour in the milk, whisking constantly to remove any lumps. Cook the sauce until it thickens, about 5 minutes.

Step 6

Remove the sauce from the heat, then stir in the cheddar cheese, mustard, salt, and black pepper until smooth and creamy.

Step 7

Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with olive oil and layer half of the potato slices across the bottom.

Step 8

Spread half of the sausage pieces evenly over the potatoes, then pour half of the cheese sauce on top.

Step 9

Add another layer of potatoes and sausages, finishing with the remaining cheese sauce.

Step 10

Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese and breadcrumbs evenly over the top.

Step 11

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbling.

Step 12

Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
