Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cups granulated sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 2 pieces large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cups milk
  • 3 pieces ripe peaches, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

Step 3

In a separate large bowl, stir together the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.

Step 4

Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined. Do not overmix—the batter should be thick but smooth.

Step 5

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly using a spatula.

Step 6

Arrange the sliced peaches on top of the batter in a circular pattern, lightly pressing them into the surface of the batter. You can overlap them slightly for a decorative effect.

Step 7

Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean and the edges are golden brown.

Step 8

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 9

Once cooled, dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar (if desired) for an extra touch of sweetness.

Step 10

Slice and serve the cake on its own or with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delightful treat!
