Ingredients

  • 230 grams Unsalted butter
  • 125 grams Confectioner's sugar (sifted)
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 280 grams All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Milk (optional, if dough is too dry)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and confectioner's sugar using an electric hand mixer or stand mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Mix in the vanilla extract until well combined.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.

Step 5

Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed until a soft dough forms. If the dough is too dry to come together, add 1 tablespoon of milk and mix again.

Step 6

Divide the dough into two portions. Roll out each portion to about 1/4 inch (6 mm) thickness on a lightly floured surface.

Step 7

Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and transfer them to the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of space between each cookie.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are just starting to turn golden.

Step 9

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.

Step 10

Optionally, dust the cookies with additional confectioner’s sugar or decorate with icing as desired.
