Ingredients

  • 4 cups Concord grapes
  • 2 cups Granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice

Directions

Step 1

Wash the Concord grapes thoroughly under cold running water and remove any stems.

Step 2

Peel the grapes by gently squeezing each grape. Save the pulp in one bowl and the skins in another.

Step 3

Place the grape pulp into a medium saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 8-10 minutes or until the pulp softens and begins to release its juice.

Step 4

Press the softened grape pulp through a fine mesh strainer or food mill into a large bowl to remove the seeds. Discard the seeds.

Step 5

Transfer the seedless pulp back to the saucepan and add the reserved grape skins. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to combine.

Step 6

Add the granulated sugar and lemon juice to the saucepan. Stir well to dissolve the sugar.

Step 7

Reduce the heat to medium-low. Simmer the mixture for 25-30 minutes, stirring frequently, until the jam thickens. You can test the consistency by placing a small amount on a chilled plate and running your finger through it – if it holds its shape, it's ready.

Step 8

Remove the saucepan from the heat and skim off any foam from the surface using a spoon.

Step 9

Let the jam cool slightly, then ladle it into sterilized jars. Seal the jars tightly and let them cool to room temperature.

Step 10

Store the jam in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks, or process the jars in a boiling water bath for long-term storage.
